About the Role
Admin Volunteers are essential to the successful functioning of the Youth Centre and play a key role in ensuring youth have reliable access to services and support. We are seeking volunteers who can commit to a consistent schedule, as regular attendance helps maintain continuity of service and creates a welcoming, dependable environment for youth participants.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and direct youth to the appropriate space, service, or program.
- Answer youth questions about programs or services.
- Direct youth in need of de-escalation to the de-escalation room and inform staff.
- Receive packages and scheduled donation deliveries.
- Inform relevant staff when a package or delivery has arrived.
- Manage incoming phone calls, including transfers and voicemail follow-up.
- Support office operations and maintain inventory for donations and office supplies.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience with administrative work.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
- Comfortable greeting service users.
- Works well as a member of a team.
- Commitment to social justice, anti-racism, anti-oppression, housing first approach, harm reduction approach, and trauma-informed care.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check clearance.
- Must not have accessed Friends of Ruby services in the past year.

About the Company
- Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing.
- We operate a Youth Centre, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a Transitional Home, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.
