About the Role

This role provides one-to-one in-person support for our Cafe Coordinator with an intellectual disability at our in-house Coffee Bar, supporting both workplace success and professional growth for the Cafe Coordinator. The ideal candidate will combine patience and empathy to help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly consistent 1:1 supervision to an employee with an intellectual disability in their role as a Cafe Coordinator.
  • Assist with on-the-job coaching, skill reinforcement, and confidence building.
  • Help with support Cafe Coordinator with daily coffee bar tasks as needed, including drink preparation, customer service, and restocking supplies.
  • Promote independence by encouraging problem solving and celebrating achievements.
  • Ensure workplace expectations, safety, and routine are supported in a respectful and person-centered way.
  • Collaborate with the Cafe Coordinator’s team to ensure consistent and effective support.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor(s) about progress, needs, and successes.
  • Observe and document daily the progress, challenges, and any necessary accommodations.

Requirements

  • Experience working and/or supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
