About the Role
This role provides one-to-one in-person support for our Cafe Coordinator with an intellectual disability at our in-house Coffee Bar, supporting both workplace success and professional growth for the Cafe Coordinator. The ideal candidate will combine patience and empathy to help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly consistent 1:1 supervision to an employee with an intellectual disability in their role as a Cafe Coordinator.
- Assist with on-the-job coaching, skill reinforcement, and confidence building.
- Help with support Cafe Coordinator with daily coffee bar tasks as needed, including drink preparation, customer service, and restocking supplies.
- Promote independence by encouraging problem solving and celebrating achievements.
- Ensure workplace expectations, safety, and routine are supported in a respectful and person-centered way.
- Collaborate with the Cafe Coordinator’s team to ensure consistent and effective support.
- Communicate regularly with supervisor(s) about progress, needs, and successes.
- Observe and document daily the progress, challenges, and any necessary accommodations.
Requirements
- Experience working and/or supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
