About the Role

Seeking a Workshop Engineer to perform component-level repairs, servicing, and testing on electronic, electro-mechanical, and PC-based equipment for a major public transport technology program. This role is part of the Service Management (Workshop) organization.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out component-level repair, servicing, testing, and fault diagnosis of electronic, electro-mechanical, and PC-based equipment according to approved procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, repair procedures, health and safety, security rules, and environmental practices.
  • Accurately update and maintain all records of work in the maintenance management tool.
  • Report completed work, technical findings, recurring issues, and improvement suggestions to the Workshop Team Lead.
  • Escalate complex technical issues, non-conformities, or operational concerns to the Workshop Team Lead with clear diagnostic information.
  • Liaise with workshop supervision and support functions to resolve technical queries and ensure workflow continuity.
  • Contribute to workshop performance by meeting turnaround expectations and maintaining technical compliance.
  • Support upgrades and the introduction, testing, or rollout of new equipment.
  • Perform assigned duties in a disciplined, systematic, and traceable manner, ensuring documentation and a safe work area.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably required by management.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an electronic/electro-mechanical repair or production/test environment.
  • Extensive experience with hand tools and soldering equipment, including through-hole and SMD work.
  • Experience using electronic test and fault-finding equipment (DVM, oscilloscopes, software tools).
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform to targets and deadlines with a systematic and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft packages and database systems.
  • Strong work ethic, proactive attitude, and adaptability.

Work Type

  • 12 MONTH FTC
  • 35 hour working week

Education Level

  • ONC level qualification (or equivalent) in an electronic / PC-based discipline, or an electro-mechanical / mechanical discipline (Essential)
  • HNC or HND (or equivalent) in a related engineering discipline (Desirable)
