About the Role

The Krembil Brain Institute - University Health Network (UHN) invites applications for the Cheng Family Chair in Epilepsy Research. This five-year term appointment, renewable once, focuses on advancing discovery, treatment, and education in genetic epilepsy.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake collaborative research to promote discovery, treatment, and education in genetic epilepsy.
  • Conduct high-quality, innovative, and impactful clinical research focusing on patients with rare genetic epilepsies and common epilepsies with a strong genetic component.
  • Pursue the development of effective treatments for generalized epilepsy syndromes.
  • Leverage enabling tools to advance the field and ensure knowledge translation efforts are integrated.
  • Help position the Krembil Brain Institute as a global leader in knowledge generation and translation in epilepsies.
  • Teach and supervise medical trainees, fellows, and graduate students.

Requirements

  • Must be a Neurologist.
  • Eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Full Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology.
  • Eligible to hold a clinician scientist position based at UHN-Krembil Brain Institute.
  • Hold an MD degree.
  • Hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • Hold certification in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or international equivalent.
  • Have an established clinical research program in Epilepsy with a strong genetic component.
  • Have an established reputation of clinical expertise and be internationally renowned.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
