About the Role
The Electrification Engineer will be responsible for the design, integration, and testing of electrical power distribution systems, including diesel generators, lithium-ion battery packs, electric motors, and power electronics for transport refrigeration and stationary applications. This role also involves collaborating with application systems engineers to define sub-system requirements and perform Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
Responsibilities
- Research and development of electrical systems for mobile or stationary applications.
- Electrical integration of Charging; Battery; Traction (e-axle incl. inverter); HV H&W; Fuel cell; power distribution boxes; Auxiliaries (converters, braking resistors, compressors, electric power take-off).
- Specification, Gap Analysis, Block System Diagrams, Function review and release, system design release approval.
- Responsible for the system FMA based on components FMEAS and system functions.
- Propose and submit innovation ideas for patent application.
- Identify and Evaluate Electric Devices, Electronic Controllers and Power Electronics devices, such as VFD’s DC-DC converters, High Voltage Boost Inverters.
- Develop Components Specification.
- Specify Wire Gauge required based on Load and application temperature requirements.
- Collaborate in the design of Electrical Systems and create and update Creo Schematics.
- Prepare Safety and System DFMEA for High, and Low voltage Lithium Batteries.
- Lead Prototype and Engineering Builds and review the build of Electrical harnesses.
- Develop test plan in collaboration with Suppliers.
- Develop And Tech Can Communication Architecture for new systems.
- Monitor Test Progress and identify contingency plans to avoid test delays.
- Root Cause Analysis and/or component failure analysis to identify corrective action.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Prior experience in embedded software or minor in computer science.
- Proficient with computer software systems including Matlab – Simulink, Dymola, C++ , Excel.
- Knowledge of refrigeration products (preferred but not required)
- Ability to solve challenging and complex customer requests.
- Knowledgably in Creo Schematics.
