About the Role

The Office of Federal Affairs coordinates the City's interaction with the Federal administration and Congress, keeping the Mayor and City agencies informed about pending or important issues affecting the City. The office also advocates on behalf of the city and serves as the DC liaison between the City and other cities seeking to work together on federal issues.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule meetings on behalf of FLA staff.
  • Enter data into databases and Excel sheets.
  • Review and track legislation.
  • Facilitate interactions between elected officials' offices, federal agencies, and the Administration.
  • Respond to requests from members and staff promptly.
  • Assist FLA staff with meeting preparations.

Requirements

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described.
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described.
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above, with at least one year of experience as described.
