About the Role

The Kings County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a Paralegal to join the Domestic Violence Unit. This role involves supporting the investigation and prosecution of intimate partner crimes, ranging from misdemeanors to homicides, while providing essential resources to victims.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Domestic Violence cases for Grand Jury presentations and trials.
• Draft legal documents including subpoenas, orders to produce, orders of protection, and material witness orders.
• Obtain case discovery such as NYPD and FDNY paperwork, body-worn camera footage, and medical records.
• Locate and notify civilian witnesses and police officers for legal proceedings.
• Assist Assistant District Attorneys with investigations and special projects.
• Staff DV court parts and the unit reception area as needed.
• Act as a liaison with court staff and community partners.
• Maintain filing systems for discovery materials and case progress.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
• Associate degree or 60 semester credits plus two years of full-time experience in paralegal or legal assistant services.
• Submission of a resume and cover letter.
• Ability to handle graphic images and sensitive information.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
