About the Role
The Central Operations Desk (COD) Specialist supports the agency’s 24/7 operational communications system. This role involves independent decision-making, emergency coordination, incident documentation, and data entry within a robust reporting system to ensure public safety and effective facility operations.
Responsibilities
- Support the 24/7 incident command center
- Monitor multiple sources of critical information for situational awareness
- Ensure high-quality and timely responses to inquiries
- Input and distribute accurate incident alerts and reports
- Coordinate non-incident special alerts
- Facilitate information sharing with internal stakeholders
- Communicate with external inter-agency partners such as the NYPD
- Process communications regarding jails, outposts, and transportation operations
- Confirm incident scope, perform agency notifications, and prepare reports for Executive Staff
- Interface with the Emergency Operations Center and other specialized divisions
- Support records access, retention, and management
- Support field communications for off-site incidents
- Represent the COD at meetings and participate in drills
- Analyze oversight regulations and recommend agency responses
- Identify incident trends and implement solutions for recurring problems
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree and two years of full-time experience in correction, social work, psychology, law, or public administration
- High school diploma and four years of full-time experience in a correctional or related facility
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least one year of full-time paid experience in a correctional or related facility
- Ability to work day or afternoon tours, including weekends and holidays
- At least two years of experience in a law enforcement field or agency with an incident reporting system
