About the Role

The Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and housekeeping tasks to provide a clean and safe environment for residents, enabling senior residents to live safely and as independently as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vacant apartments for occupancy in coordination with building super or as directed.
  • Assist with painting and light repairs.
  • Assist in special projects such as stripping and waxing floors.
  • Assist with electrical repairs, including troubleshooting and replacing fixtures.
  • Complete residential painting projects with precision and attention to detail.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on residential properties, ensuring all work meets safety standards.
  • Wear the company’s uniform and/or adhere to the dress code policy, and maintain a neat and clean appearance.
  • Work as a team member to establish and maintain a high level of care, respect, and communication with senior residents.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Share information about resident progress, needs, and problems with other staff in accordance with WSFSSH Confidentiality Policy.
  • Attend training sessions and conferences as required for enhancement of job skills.
  • Implement emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Submit all required reports in a complete and timely manner.
  • Assist with other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; in lieu of GED, 4 years in a relevant handyman and/or maintenance position required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with a senior population and dependent individuals.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated work experience as a handyman and building maintenance.
  • Able to perform job responsibilities.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25+ lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Skills

  • Strong maintenance skills and experience.
  • Able to work in a multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Proven experience with plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
  • Extremely organized.
  • Good communicator.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Aptitude for problem solving.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, highly preferred.
  • Collaborate with team members to lead projects and ensure timely completion of tasks.
