About the Role
Respiratory Therapists provide 24/7 respiratory therapy services to patients across various critical care and specialty units, including Intensive Care Units, Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, and the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with airway management
- Responding to all cardiac and respiratory arrests and trauma
- Attending intra and inter-hospital transports of critically ill patients
- Administering specialty aerosolized and MDI medications
- Acting as a resource for nurses, residents, and allied health personnel in Respiratory/Airway related care
- Teaching patients the use of Respiratory Therapy equipment for hospital and home care
- Performing diagnostic tests such as bedside spirometry, oxygen saturation, and blood gas analysis
- Administering oxygen and other medical gas therapy
- Assisting with bronchoscopies
- Managing all ventilated patients according to departmental ventilation protocols
- Being an integral member of the healthcare team
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapist in Adult Critical Care preferred
- Registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists
- Registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
- Certified Hyperbaric Medical Technologist (CHT) preferred
- Ability to work in a Hyperbaric environment required
- Hyperbaric Medicine experience preferred
- Ability to perform without direct supervision
- Effective communication skills
- Commitment to personal and professional development
- Must have successfully completed probationary period, have a good employee record, and satisfactory attendance (for current UHN employees)
- Criminal Record Check may be required

Salary/Compensations
- CAD 40.34 - CAD 50.43 per hour
