About the Role
Seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join a non-profit organization operating a network of federally qualified health centers focused on ensuring access to healthcare for all. The role involves delivering safe, quality patient care and collaborating with a care team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, quality patient care and services under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Collaborate with care team members to achieve goals.
- Adhere to the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Department and Organization.
- Perform treatments and procedures with demonstrated competency.
- Assist patients with respiratory needs, including aerosol and inhalation treatments, and encouraging coughing and deep breathing.
- Perform oral and endotracheal suctioning.
- Perform therapeutic procedures and treatments.
- Insert and remove Foley catheters.
- Perform EKGs.
- Perform phlebotomy for blood collection.
- Insert IVs and maintain the line.
- Assist patients with and reinforce the use of therapeutic equipment.
- Perform patient preparation.
- Prepare and administer medication and observe patients' response.
- Demonstrate knowledge of medication action, dosage, and side effects.
- Safely administer medications allowed by N.Y. State law and organizational policies.
- Obtain and record vital signs, height, weight, and head circumference.
- Collect specimens and document findings.
Requirements
- Certificate of completion from a practical nurse course of study.
- Current New York State LPN license and registration.
- Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- Current Infection Control Certificate.
- Current Child Abuse Certificate.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working within an ambulatory setting preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture and administer medications including immunizations.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills including typing.
- Demonstrated competency in performing treatments and procedures.
- Proficient in performing EKGs, phlebotomy, IV insertion, and Foley catheter insertion/removal.
- Demonstrated clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize care and activities of multiple patients.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team.
- Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
