About the Role

United Ag & Turf NE is seeking a Service Manager to oversee the Service Department operations, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and efficient branch management. This role involves close collaboration with other leaders and employees to maintain a safe, secure, and well-kept facility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage service repairs and assign jobs to Service Department employees based on their skills.
  • Ensure timely completion and invoicing of service repair orders to maximize profits and customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues with a high level of service, escalating further if necessary.
  • Participate in team meetings with department managers to foster inter-departmental teamwork.
  • Assist in developing and executing effective Service Department policies and processes.
  • Create annual Service Department forecasts and goals aligned with financial and operational objectives.
  • Execute Service Department strategic and marketing plans, reviewing progress regularly.
  • Communicate effectively with the Corporate Service Manager, branch Parts Manager, and branch personnel.
  • Oversee hiring, training, and development of service personnel.
  • Conduct performance reviews for service personnel, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure all department tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order.
  • Identify and develop new customer and business opportunities to drive department growth.
  • Maintain a professional appearance of the facility, assets, personnel, and property to enhance community reputation.
  • Identify facility improvement opportunities and submit requests to leadership.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills and follow-through ability.
  • Familiarity with the equipment industry, John Deere, and competitive products is preferred.
  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms and repair methods for customer and dealer-owned equipment.
  • Ability to manage personnel and adhere to company policies.
  • Proficiency in standard desktop applications, email, internet functions, and Service Advisor software.
  • Willingness to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and be on-call as needed.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for individuals and groups.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of financial principles related to Service Department operations and business systems.
  • Ability to create, analyze, and interpret internal reports and provide feedback.
  • Skills to effectively manage a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong desire for personal development.
  • Ability to work within and promote a strong team environment across all departments.
  • Willingness to accept additional assignments.
  • Must achieve and maintain forklift certification.
  • Ability to travel for customer service and training.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
  • 2 years of equipment industry or service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to maneuver on/under heavy equipment and around construction/agricultural sites.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle day and night.
  • Ability to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers for computer and phone operation.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision.
  • Hearing ability sufficient for communication.
  • Ability to perform light to moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, and bend as needed.
