About the Role
Investa is seeking a driven Software Engineer to join its founding engineering team. This role offers end-to-end ownership of core platform features, opportunities to work across the full stack, and a chance to grow technical depth in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about building best-in-class financial products.
Responsibilities
- Designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable services as part of the founding team.
- Taking end-to-end ownership of work, seeing code ship, and observing its impact on users.
- Actively contributing to building the engineering culture, including collaboration and learning practices.
- Writing high-quality, secure code for an FCA-regulated platform.
- Navigating the tech stack to ship user-delighting features.
- Gaining hands-on experience with the wider technical stack to accelerate skill development.
- Partnering with the engineering team on complex systems design and shaping the evolving architecture.
- Having a strong voice in high-level design choices and design ownership over built services and components.
- Maintaining a high bar for code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Participating in and contributing to meaningful code reviews.
- Monitoring and improving system reliability to ensure platform uptime.
- Root-causing real-time production issues and ensuring system stability.
Requirements
- +3 years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Experience building or maintaining distributed systems or backend APIs is ideal.
- Strong practitioner who loves shipping clean, readable code and takes pride in seeing features go live.
- Proficient in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Java, Go).
- Comfortable working within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Understanding the balance between elegant code and delivering real value in a fast-moving startup.
- Enjoying dissecting system workings and quickly picking up domain concepts like options pricing, execution mechanics, and financial regulations.
- Willingness to participate in supporting production applications, including responding to critical system events outside of working hours.
