About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Floor Layer to join our team in Ealing, partnering with Brent Council to perform flooring installations and repairs across residential properties. This hands-on role requires technical precision and the ability to work both independently and as part of a maintenance team to deliver high-quality service to the local community.
Responsibilities
- Install and renew sheet vinyl flooring with smooth, sealed seams
- Lay ceramic and other tile types including cutting, alignment, and grouting
- Fit cap and cove wet room floors to create waterproof surfaces
- Prepare subfloors by cleaning, repairing, and priming surfaces
- Apply self-levelling compounds and screed for even bases
- Perform flooring works in kitchens, bathrooms, communal areas, and void properties
- Measure and cut materials to fit around fixtures and obstacles
- Operate hand and power tools safely
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle
- Log work progress using a PDA system
- Communicate professionally with tenants, clients, and colleagues
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience as a floor layer in domestic and commercial settings
- Skilled in sheet vinyl, tile work, cap and cove installations, and floor preparation
- Carpentry experience
- Experience using self-levelling compounds and screed
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload
- Strong attention to detail
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic IT literacy for logging and reporting
- Full UK driving licence
- Own hand and power tools
- Entitlement to work in the UK
- Must be aged over 21 with a licence held for over 3 months and less than 9 points to drive company vehicle
- Subject to background, identity, and security checks
