About the Role
As the Critical Facilities Maintenance Shift Engineer, you will plan, manage, and implement Facilities Maintenance services for Data Centers, ensuring optimal operational performance. You will provide engineering guidance on property matters affecting the ongoing management and development of Data Centers. This role operates on a 12-hour continental shift pattern over a 24/7 rota.
Responsibilities
- Provide a customer-focused service and high standard of planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Proactively evaluate plant and equipment, suggesting improvements.
- Accurately record and report maintenance activities to update the Key Source System.
- Perform operational and maintenance activities safely and suitably as directed.
- Ensure timely completion of PPMs and reactive work to SLAs.
- Act as the High Voltage Authorized Person, managing inspection and testing programs.
- Supervise operational and maintenance activities to ensure safety, compliance with SLAs, and suitability.
- Support Shift Engineering Teams in the correct operation of critical Data Center services.
- Approve site works, accept successful completion, and ensure all risk assessments, method statements, and technical sign-offs are in place.
- Ensure services are delivered to the highest technical standards, minimizing risk.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with site and best practice processes and procedures.
Requirements
- 17th Edition certified or similar electrical qualification.
- HND or similar in a relevant area (Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services).
- Good understanding of Data Centre cooling solutions and building services.
- Authorized person LV (HV preferable).
- Membership/Affiliate of relevant institutes (IET, BIFM, CIBSE etc.).
- F-GAS / J11 (an advantage).
- Demonstrable experience in operating and fault-finding complex and integrated M&E systems including Transformers, LV, Generators, UPS, Electrical distribution, BMS, Air Conditioning, Fire suppression systems.
- Experience in facilities, operations, or engineering within a Data Centre critical environment.
- Working knowledge and understanding of engineering operations within Business-Critical Environments and working safely.
- Experience creating and developing SOP and EOP documentation and related processes.
- Possess initiative with an inquisitive nature, unafraid to ask appropriate questions.
- Full driving license valid for use in the UK.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with good relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to undergo full security checks to BS7858:2019 standard.
