About the Role
The FinOps Engineer is a technical, operational role embedded within local Engineering and DevOps teams. You will bridge the gap between infrastructure and cost, ensuring cloud architecture is efficient and scalable while acting as a liaison between Finance, Leadership, and Engineering to drive workload optimization.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering to implement rightsizing, auto-scaling policies, and instance migrations.
- Act as a Cost Architect during design phases to ensure cost-efficient service builds.
- Identify and decommission orphaned cloud resources.
- Contribute to and adhere to FinOps Central team policies, standards, and governance guidelines.
- Implement and enforce automated tagging schemas for cost allocation.
- Track and optimize Cloud Unit Economics, specifically cost per 1,000 Monthly Active Users.
- Build and maintain technical dashboards for real-time cost visibility.
- Monitor daily spend to ensure adherence to budget variance thresholds.
- Perform root-cause analysis and remediation for technical cost spikes.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and CloudFormation).
- Strong SQL skills for billing analysis.
- Experience building visualization dashboards.
- Ability to translate complex billing data into actionable technical tickets and insights.
