About the Role

Watson Bowman Acme, a Sika company, is seeking an Estimator in Amherst, New York, to serve as the primary point of contact for the Sales team. This role focuses on creating accurate takeoffs and quotations for the infrastructure market, including bridges and tunnels, while collaborating across internal departments to ensure competitive project positioning.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate takeoffs and quotations for the infrastructure target market.
• Calculate materials, engineering time, shop labor, subcontract scope, and shipping/handling charges.
• Evaluate project bid specifications and drawings to inform the Sales team.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to understand internal capabilities.
• Partner with Procurement to obtain subcontract material and labor pricing with lead times.
• Act and respond to commercial and technical inquiries independently.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Engineering or Construction; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Previous experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing, general construction, or bridge construction preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
• Experience with SAP or ProCore preferred.
• Thorough understanding of contract documents.
• Strong technical aptitude for providing product recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated initiative and commitment to continuous improvement.
