About the Role

The Insight Generation Manager supports business unit growth strategies through data and insights, leveraging market, sales, research, and digital data to provide analysis and suggestions for critical business issues. This role drives data-driven decision-making and contributes to business growth through predictive analytics, advanced analytics, market research, and performance management in collaboration with business units and global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support decision-making through data analysis by understanding business unit challenges and needs.
  • Plan and execute analysis projects utilizing market and sales data.
  • Lead problem-solving and opportunity identification using Advanced Analytics.
  • Interpret analysis results from a business perspective and propose actionable insights.
  • Develop short-term and long-term sales forecast models to support business planning.
  • Analyze market environment and key driver changes to visualize their impact on performance.
  • Design and monitor KPIs, reporting to management and global teams.
  • Support optimization of digital strategy by measuring the effectiveness of omnichannel initiatives and promotional activities.
  • Generate customer and market insights through market research design and analysis.
  • Build optimal analytical frameworks for business challenges using data sources like IQVIA, JMDC, and MDV.
  • Lead and facilitate all analytical projects in Japan.
  • Gather and interpret stakeholder needs into business questions.
  • Determine the proper approach and assign suitable members for analytics projects (e.g., advanced analytics, market research, SFE, secondary data delivery).
  • Proactively share analytics knowledge with global members.
  • Build clear, accurate, and well-structured forecast models that align with marketing strategy.
  • Determine assumptions for building sales forecasts (short-term to long-term).
  • Quantify the sales impact of each critical business factor.
  • Prepare documents to explain forecast logic for business review.
  • Develop solid analytics logic and conduct analysis to solve business questions.
  • Connect and interpret analytical results with the business situation and explain results with a business story.
  • Understand AI capabilities and limitations to communicate smoothly with AI engineers.
  • Define and monitor KPIs for Omni-channel projects to track progress.
  • Manage promotion data (physical + digital) analysis projects to evaluate promotion effectiveness.
  • Deliver insights to improve/enhance digital initiatives through data analysis.
  • Identify metrics that drive performance against strategic priorities.
  • Analyze and report performance metrics to management.
  • Share KPI reports with global stakeholders at fixed intervals.
  • Understand the definitions of data sources (e.g., IQVIA, JMDC, MDV).
  • Identify the ideal data source for each business question.
  • Propose the best method and create questionnaires to answer business questions.
  • Analyze primary data to quantify needed aspects.

Requirements

  • Practical experience in a pharmaceutical company or consulting firm.
  • Experience in Business Intelligence, Insight Generation, Commercial Excellence, business planning, or marketing analysis within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in generating insights and proposing strategies using various data held by pharmaceutical companies.
  • For candidates from consulting firms, experience in projects for pharmaceutical companies.
  • Experience in analysis using secondary data in the pharmaceutical industry, such as IQVIA, JMDC, and MDV.
  • Experience connecting data analysis results to business strategy.
  • More than 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferable.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Business-level Japanese and English language proficiency.
  • Working experience in a Commercial Excellence department in pharma is preferable.
  • Collaborative and respectful mindset, able to promote collaboration with various departments.
  • Ability to understand stakeholder needs correctly and quickly.
  • Ability to explain analysis results understandably to business unit personnel.
  • Challenging spirit, demonstrating initiative in new areas.
