About the Role
The PR & Communications Apprentice will support the day-to-day running of the Press department while gaining hands-on experience in one of the world’s leading commercial galleries. The role requires a passion for working in communications in the arts and a strong interest in learning about artists and the art sector. Being thorough, proactive and professional at all times, while having a strong eye for detail and consistency, is key, as is the ability to balance a varied workload. Hands-on training will be provided on developing communications strategies, pitching to journalists, and creating a strong CV.
Responsibilities
- Scanning and filing press clippings
- Writing and compiling daily press coverage reports
- Responding to press requests and sharing materials with journalists
- Supporting the press team at media events and openings
- Creating press kits, including designing image sheets, resizing images, uploading digital resources for journalists
- Building email content on Mailchimp
- Creating digital assets using existing design templates
- Supporting the drafting of press releases and other communications materials
- Proofing and sense-checking copy
- Attending PR agency meetings
- Taking meeting minutes and sharing notes with the team
- Supporting the press team with finance-related administration, including raising purchase orders and managing team expenses
- Other jobs to support the communications team when required
Requirements
- Be aged 16 or over.
- Have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Be based in United Kingdom for the duration of the apprenticeship.
- Not be enrolled on another government-funded qualification or apprenticeship at the same time.
- Ideally, the successful candidate should already hold GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or an equivalent qualification).
