About the Role

The Telegraph seeks a creative video journalist to research, produce, and edit video content for its website, app, and social media. This role involves reacting to news, creating quality visuals to expand audience reach, and contributing to subscription goals.

Responsibilities

  • Source video content from agency feeds and social media.
  • React quickly to breaking news by sourcing relevant video content.
  • Script, edit, and produce short-form video content for digital platforms.
  • Source, edit, and deliver content and metadata efficiently while maintaining editorial standards.
  • Distribute video articles in The Telegraph’s CMS, including writing accompanying text.
  • Progress towards self-shooting films on location, operating studio facilities, and delivering complex edits.
  • Work unsociable hours, including regular early morning and evening shifts.

Requirements

  • Video production background with a focus on news output.
  • Strong news judgment with the ability to identify great video news content.
  • Full knowledge of media law.
  • Journalistic background preferred over technical.
  • Excellent news and current affairs knowledge.
  • Video editing skills for digital output (Adobe Premiere and After Effects preferred).
  • Deep understanding of the social video competitive landscape and emerging platforms.
  • Ability to work quickly to meet deadlines and think creatively about video storytelling.
  • Ability to contribute ideas and communicate planning lists to senior editorial colleagues.
