About the Role

This role contributes to the safe and timely movement and transportation of medical samples, consumables, and medical information, requiring excellent communication and meticulous record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out courier journeys to various locations and to agreed routes and timings.
  • Complete digital and manual documentation required by legislation and organizational procedures.
  • Maintain regular contact with the operations office using a range of communication systems.
  • Ensure all items are always kept safe and secure.
  • Comply with the Road Traffic Act while driving and other relevant legislation.
  • Act as customer contact at delivery points of service, and relay relevant information to the operations office.
  • Complete vehicle checks prior to use, and notify any defects to the Operations Office.
  • Act in a polite and courteous manner to customers and road users.
  • Contribute to the safe and timely movement and transportation of medical samples, consumables and medical information.
  • Use electronic and paper-based forms of recording tasks and items delivered and collected.
  • Ensure all courier tasks are carried out correctly and to scheduled times.
  • May involve heavy lifting/manual handling of equipment and goods.
  • Drive vehicles from small vans to medium vans on a category B UK Manual driving licence.

Requirements

  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to plan routes effectively.
  • Must be a good communicator.

  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to use a PDA (training will be provided).
  • Good/Clear handwriting.
  • Familiar with the local and surrounding areas.
  • Held a Full UK Manual Driving Licence for a minimum of 12 months.
  • No more than 6 penalty points on driving licence.
