About the Role

This hands-on role is responsible for sourcing materials, equipment, and services while ensuring on-time delivery, cost optimization, supplier performance, and inventory management. The ideal candidate has strong SAP purchasing experience, a manufacturing background, and proven success working with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase materials, equipment, and services to support manufacturing operations
  • Create and manage purchase orders using SAP and MRP systems
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance and quality
  • Manage inventory levels and reduce excess or obsolete materials
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve purchasing issues
  • Support sourcing initiatives, cost reduction projects, and process improvements
  • Resolve supplier invoicing issues and ensure timely payment processing
  • Maintain purchasing documentation, contracts, NDAs, pricing agreements, and certificates
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, environmental regulations, and audit requirements

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a plant or corporate Buyer
  • Experience placing purchase orders in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems and purchasing processes
  • Hands-on SAP purchasing experience required
  • Experience negotiating supplier pricing and contracts
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, planning, quality, or supply chain organizations
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to meet ITAR and Department of Defense compliance requirements.
  • Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Fairport, NY
