About the Role
The payroll specialist provides accurate, high-quality payroll support for Australian and New Zealand operations. This hands-on role focuses on employee movements, queries, terminations, and reporting, requiring a detail-oriented professional who can maintain compliance and support a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities
- Process and maintain accurate payroll records in Dayforce for Australian employees.
- Action employee movements including cross-boarding, transfers, and rehires via the recruitment portal.
- Process termination calculations and final pays in line with Fair Work and NES compliance.
- Generate regular payroll reports and check outputs for accuracy.
- Respond to employee and manager payroll queries professionally and within agreed timeframes.
- Complete assigned pre-payroll audits to validate data.
- Assist with NZ payroll tasks including employee updates, audits, terminations, and IRD reporting.
- Process NZ payroll during high-volume periods and for leave coverage.
- Support the accuracy of system data integrations between recruitment, WFM, and payroll.
- Follow established payroll procedures and checklists to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Report errors, gaps, or risks to the Payroll Manager immediately.
- Adhere to cyber security, privacy, and data handling protocols.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience in payroll, including Australian payroll.
- Sound knowledge of Australian legislation: Fair Work, NES, PAYG, superannuation, and STP.
- Familiarity with payroll systems, specifically Dayforce.
- Experience using HRIS or recruitment platforms.
- Intermediate Excel skills including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and reconciliations.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated agility and flexibility to support multiple payroll streams.
