About the Role
The Azure Cloud Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions to support the organization’s strategic goals and business operations. This role is pivotal in shaping cloud strategy, optimizing performance, and driving the modernization, migration, and optimization of applications and services to Azure. Key responsibilities include managing and governing St Vincent’s Azure tenancy, ensuring security, compliance, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and operate secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure
- Improve the maturity of Azure platform services, DevOps practices and operational processes
- Own and uplift Infrastructure as Code patterns, deployment pipelines and platform hardening
- Support high availability, backup and disaster recovery for critical systems
- Act as an experienced technical escalation point during incidents and outages
- Implement security controls aligned with best practices
- Partner with cybersecurity, data, networking and application teams for common goals
- Support cloud migrations, platform modernisation and new service delivery
- Support organisation-wide digital and virtual-care transformation goals
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation, particularly Terraform
- Experience with Bicep, ARM templates, Azure DevOps and/or GitHub
- Experience leveraging Platform Engineering patterns and AI-assisted development (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
- Experience with AKS, Azure Container Apps, Function Apps or containerised application platforms
- Strong knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and resilience patterns
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
