About the Role
The Buyer supports the procurement function by purchasing goods and services required for business operations. This role involves processing purchase orders, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring contracts are completed on time while maintaining quality and cost objectives.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage purchase orders for assigned commodities or service categories.
- Obtain quotes from suppliers and compare pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Follow up with suppliers to expedite orders and resolve any issues.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and procurement documentation.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing requirements.
- Support contract administration and ensure compliance with company procurement policies.
- Assist with supplier onboarding and qualification activities.
- Analyze purchasing trends and recommend opportunities for cost savings.
- Maintain inventory levels by monitoring demand and replenishment requirements.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies by coordinating with suppliers and Accounts Payable.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement organization.
- Perform as a back-up as needed managing supplier maintenance in our systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 1 year of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related business experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
