About the Role

Optus is seeking a Senior Insider Threat Analyst to enhance security by identifying, investigating, and mitigating insider risks. This role is crucial in protecting the company's people, data, and intellectual property in an evolving cyber threat landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and enhance insider risk detection capabilities using technologies like UEBA, DLP, CASB, EDR, SIEM, User Activity Monitoring, and cloud telemetry.
  • Develop and maintain analytics, detection rules, investigative playbooks, and monitoring models for various threats including data exfiltration and policy violations.
  • Lead and support insider threat investigations, including evidence collection, case management, and reporting.
  • Correlate technical indicators with business and people-related risk signals.
  • Triage and assess insider risk alerts, determining severity and recommending actions.
  • Produce investigation reports and executive briefings for various audiences.
  • Coordinate technical and administrative containment activities.
  • Drive proactive risk reduction through awareness initiatives and policy reviews.
  • Contribute to insider threat governance, metrics reporting, and threat intelligence.
  • Stay current on emerging insider threat techniques and best practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in insider threat, cyber security operations, threat hunting, investigations, fraud intelligence, digital forensics, law enforcement, or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading or supporting complex investigations involving sensitive information and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of security monitoring and detection platforms (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, CrowdStrike, Defender for Endpoint, DLP, CASB, UEBA).
  • Proficiency in security analytics and query languages (e.g., KQL, SPL, SQL).
  • Understanding of data exfiltration techniques, insider threat tactics, and behavioural risk indicators.
  • Knowledge of evidence handling, chain of custody processes, and creating defensible investigation documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to collaborate across Security, HR, Legal, Privacy, and Compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of integrity, discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
