About the Role

Lead the Profile, Governance & Strategy team within Business Banking’s Chief Controls Office, maintaining an end-to-end view of financial crime, fraud, and scams risk profile and ensuring regulatory obligations are understood, assessed, and governed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and embed a consistent financial crime, fraud, and scams risk framework and strategy across Business Banking.
  • Maintain oversight of the end-to-end risk profile, including key risks, control effectiveness, and emerging threats.
  • Oversee significant regulatory reforms, including AML/CTF reforms, the Scams Prevention Framework, and other emerging obligations.
  • Lead financial crime risk assessments, including product and channel risk assessments.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders on emerging typologies, regulatory developments, and risk appetite.
  • Deliver clear governance reporting and insights for senior executive forums.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team focused on governance, strategy, and financial crime risk excellence.

Requirements

  • Senior leader capable of operating strategically and influencing at an executive level.
  • Practical, commercially minded approach to financial crime, fraud, and scams risk management.
  • Significant experience in financial crime, fraud, and/or scams risk management within a complex financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial crime regulatory obligations, risk appetite, governance frameworks, controls, and enterprise risk management.
  • Proven capability leading risk strategy, governance initiatives, regulatory change implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience delivering actionable insights and reporting for executives, governance forums, and committees.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across business, risk, technology, legal, and compliance teams.
  • Experience in risk assessments, control design and testing, issue and incident management, thematic reviews, and root cause analysis.
  • Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop, and uplift capability in high-performing teams.
