About the Role

The Engineering function within the Product Development team creates specifications and designs for new products or improvements and enhancements to existing products. This role works closely with customers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs in these designs, aligning features to a timetable and areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop product engineering requirements and guide architectural design to ensure products meet customer and business expectations for safety, regulatory, quality, performance, functionality, reliability, and efficacy.
• Define processes for technical platforms, system requirements, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
• Conceive system interfaces within the device and consider implications with interfacing to business applications.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses.
• Perform work in a specialized area of expertise requiring knowledge of fundamental themes, principles, and concepts.
• Perform routine professional-based activities (early in career).
• Contribute to and manage projects (mid-career).
• Provide advice/direction in primary areas of expertise (specialist and expert).
• Leverage professional expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results (principal).
• Network with contacts outside own area of expertise.
• Lead cooperative efforts among project team members.
• Work independently, with guidance only in the most complex situations.
• Frequently lead sub-functional teams or projects and train and mentor junior team members.
• Serve as a best practice resource within own area of work.

Requirements

• Applies functional knowledge and existing methodologies to solve complex problems or execute specialized projects.
• Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

Experience Level

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience.

Education Level

• Bachelor’s degree.
