About the Role
This role has been created to strengthen Torrens University’s permanent academic workforce, supporting the delivery of flexible, high-quality, student-centred learning experiences across on-campus, online, hybrid and asynchronous learning environments, while enhancing student success and employability. As a Teaching Fellow (Cybersecurity), you'll join the School of Technology, where you'll inspire and support the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. You'll teach across our Bachelor and Master's in cybersecurity programs, delivering engaging learning experiences in subjects such as Network Security and Infrastructure Protection, Digital Forensic, Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testin and Human-Centric Cybersecurity in a Smart Society. You'll combine outstanding teaching practice with digital capability, learning design and innovation to create learning experiences that are flexible, engaging and centred around student success.
Responsibilities
- Inspire and support the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
- Teach across Bachelor and Master's in cybersecurity programs.
- Deliver engaging learning experiences in subjects such as Network Security and Infrastructure Protection, Digital Forensic, Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, and Human-Centric Cybersecurity in a Smart Society.
- Combine outstanding teaching practice with digital capability, learning design, and innovation.
- Create learning experiences that are flexible, engaging, and centred around student success.
- Put students first by creating inclusive, engaging learning experiences.
- Embrace innovation by experimenting with AI and digital tools.
- Rethink traditional approaches to teaching.
- Use evidence to improve teaching by seeking feedback and using learning analytics.
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to improve learning, share ideas, and solve challenges.

Requirements
- A postgraduate qualification (Master's or PhD) in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is required; a PhD (completed or in progress) is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more core cybersecurity domains, including Network Security and Infrastructure Protection, Digital Forensics, Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Human-Centric Cybersecurity, Cloud Security, Security Operations, Incident Response, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Secure Software Development, Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity, or IoT and Smart Systems Security.
- Current industry experience in cybersecurity, information security, digital forensics, network security, penetration testing, security operations, or cyber governance.
- Ability to integrate contemporary cybersecurity practices, industry frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, Essential Eight), professional tools, and engaging, student-centred teaching approaches into the learning experience.
- Strong facilitation skills across online and face-to-face learning environments in Higher Education.
- Experience using learning technologies and digital tools to enhance teaching.
- Confidence using, or enthusiasm for adopting, AI-enabled approaches in education.
- Experience designing engaging learning and assessment activities.
- A student-centred approach to teaching and learning.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- A growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional learning.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications (or working towards completion).
