About the Role
Drive the implementation and day-to-day management of the risk management framework for the Wise US Broker Dealer franchise, with a focus on Operational risk management. Provide guidance on risk and control assessments, risk appetite, KRIs, audit and self-identified issues, incident management, control monitoring and remediation, and new product initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and operation of the enterprise risk framework, focusing on Operational risks, including embedding risk and control self-assessment and issues management.
- Define key risks in end-to-end business processes and coordinate the mapping and documentation of controls.
- Help design a scalable control monitoring program.
- Support first-line teams in documenting, solutioning, and prioritizing control gaps and drive proactive issue identification and remediation.
- Provide ongoing oversight of issue remediation activities using the risk management tool (Optro) to ensure appropriate risk-focused prioritization and validate closure of remediated issues.
- Support the development and implementation of key risk indicators and risk appetite statements.
- Support and drive the creation of dashboards using data analytics tools to report on key risk indicators and identify actionable insights.
- Coordinate the quarterly residual risk assessment process across the risk taxonomy, including loss and incident reporting, to inform the regional risk profile for reporting to local and global risk committees and the local board.
- Partner with 'first-line' teams to support the design and launch of new products and features by ensuring key operational risks are identified and mitigated prior to launch.
- Promote and help embed a proactive risk culture, making risk meaningful and relevant to everyone at Wise.
Requirements
- Experience in the financial services industry, ideally a broker dealer or investment management/advisory firm, or a fintech.
- Proven experience in broker-dealer (FINRA/SEC) end-to-end investment services and operations is a plus.
- Experience with payment products, ACH payment rails, and payment operations is a bonus.
- Comfortable with data analysis and data-driven problem-solving and solutionizing.
- Experience in enterprise and/or operational risk management, inherent and residual risk assessment, and risk reporting.
- Experience with process-level risk identification and control mapping.
- Experience in supporting risk assessments and/or operational risk event capture and analysis.
- Experienced in driving the identification, logging, root-cause analysis, remediation planning, action tracking, validation/closure, and reporting of issues.
- Experience in designing and implementing KRIs and control monitoring dashboards.
- Comfortable with AI, data analysis, and data-driven problem-solving and solutionizing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficient at drafting concise executive-style narratives for risk committees and board reporting.
- Resilient and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment where the day-to-day job differs.
- Curious and collaborative, adept at asking incisive questions to quickly understand and act on information.
