About the Role

The Consumer and Small Business Financial Close Controller team is looking for a highly motivated Manager to join the Controllers group's transformative initiative to become trusted and valuable business partners delivering financial results in a whole new way through leading employees, processes, and innovations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the transformation of the financial close function through centralization and optimization.
  • Support the financial close process to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of results.
  • Work in partnership with various stakeholders from the business units to understand the business.
  • Evaluate and analyze financial results.
  • Manage risks and take necessary actions.
  • Support the production of various internal and external reports.
  • Prepare, review, or approve month-end transactional processes.
  • Support the control environment and audit requirements.
  • Support various special projects.
  • Provide advice on new transactions, projects, processes, and accounting standards to help the business achieve good results while ensuring strong governance and rigorous controls.
  • Identify elements of current business processes that could be improved and/or assist in implementing changes leading to increased efficiency or better process effectiveness.
  • Identify gaps in information systems, data systems, and financial reporting tools and collaborate with appropriate teams to correct them.
  • Identify and leverage technological opportunities to recommend and implement process improvement initiatives by identifying areas of overlap and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Analyze and present financial information to support value-added decision-making.
  • Support the end-to-end accounting review cycle for Consumer and Small Business revenue contracts, including but not limited to: identifying and analyzing accounting implications, documenting accounting analyses, preparing and/or reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations, and documenting Sox controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Commerce, or experience in financial reporting.
  • CPA designation or related finance experience is an asset.
  • Two to three years in a similar finance/accounting role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Working knowledge of SAP-BI, SAP-FI modules, and related accounting systems is an asset.
  • Experience in artificial intelligence and automation is a valuable asset.
  • Ability to support a culture of innovation; personal interest in acquiring skills in the latest digital and technological trends and openness to learning new tools and ways of working.
  • Passion for understanding business operations and their link to financial processes.
  • Attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to make complex issues and processes clear and understandable.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to independently plan and execute multiple priorities and remain calm and composed during times of uncertainty and stress.
  • Ability to build strong relationships to influence and partner with diverse multidisciplinary groups and management levels to achieve a common vision.
  • Ability to take initiative and take ownership of issues by leading the resolution step.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions offered in Quebec.
