About the Role

Simbe is hiring its first Controller to build out the accounting function as the company scales. This is a hands-on builder's role where you will design and stand up processes, working closely with the finance team to shape how Simbe's accounting operations scale from here.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the monthly close, evolving it toward a 5–7 day close.
• Provide oversight of reconciliations and technical accounting, serving as the primary point of contact for the external audit.
• Build proper controls for a company of Simbe's size and maturity.
• Partner with the Finance Director and FP&A tooling to support forecasting.
• Oversee AR/collections performance, partnering with the finance data analyst.
• Own the ongoing relationship with tax and audit service providers.
• Own reporting and covenant compliance on the company's existing debt facility.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, advancing through accounting leadership.
• Prior experience operating as a Controller or Assistant Controller, ideally including building or running the function at a smaller or earlier-stage company.
• Prior experience in hardware, SaaS/subscription and/or hardware-as-a-service.
• Experience at a company with a mature, at-scale accounting function.
• Comfort building process from scratch.
• Audit experience, ideally including audits at an early-stage or high-growth company.
• Systems fluency: QuickBooks Online (or comparable GL), an FP&A platform (Planful or similar), Bill.com, Avalara, and payroll/PEO systems.
• Demonstrated use of AI tooling in close, reconciliation, and/or reporting workflows.
• Strong, direct communicator, comfortable presenting to the leadership team and, over time, the Board.
• Venture-backed or other high-growth company experience.
• Exposure to multi-entity or international accounting.
