About the Role

The Medical Office Assistant serves as the customer service liaison for our practices, ensuring a seamless patient experience through courteous communication and adherence to UHS policies for registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and billing. In a clinical capacity, they perform patient care tasks under the direction of licensed healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Greet each patient with courtesy and respect.
  • Utilize exceptional communication skills.
  • Follow all UHS Policies regarding registration, scheduling, insurance verification and billing.
  • Perform patient care tasks under the direction of a licensed nurse and/or nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, physician, or other authorized health care provider.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or direct patient care experience, including but not limited to collection of patient information and data, patient interactions or assisting physicians with procedures in a medical office or hospital setting.
  • Previous experience in a walk in / primary care/ specialty care setting (Preferred).
  • Certified medical administrative assistant (CMAA) (Preferred).
  • Strong clerical background with excellent computer skills (Preferred).
