About the Role

The Resident Relocation Coordinator oversees daily relocation tasks at multiple sites, assists residents with relocation activities, communicates with clients, manages vendors, and collects/tracks data. This role requires a positive attitude and a solutions-based approach, representing HOU at company events and advancing its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site setup activities, including office arrangement, relocation file organization, vendor identification, and off-site relocation unit arrangements.
  • Survey residents to understand their relocation needs and preferences.
  • Assess and inventory tenant belongings and furniture, noting issues like infestation, clutter, and hoarding.
  • Facilitate resident and community meetings to discuss the relocation process and resident rights/benefits.
  • Prepare and distribute relocation program notices to affected households and ensure proof of receipt.
  • Provide relocation counseling and assistance in compliance with regulations.
  • Implement relocation policies as outlined in the approved relocation plan.
  • Serve as a liaison between HOU, property management, clients, and residents.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to clients, project manager, and development team.
  • Update and maintain relocation files, database, lottery list, and relocation tracking reports.
  • Create agendas for weekly relocation meetings, take minutes, and distribute them within 48 hours.
  • Conduct pre-inspections of units to ensure they meet decent, safe, and sanitary requirements.
  • Notify residents of move-in dates and provide ongoing support to ensure preparedness.
  • Check in with residents before moving dates, with increasing frequency closer to the move.
  • Provide packing supplies, tips, demonstrations, and assistance if needed.
  • Assist with utility disconnection/reconnection and change of address forms.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and supervise moves and other move-related tasks.
  • Work with construction, property management, development, and moving contractors to ensure residents vacate units per schedule.
  • Implement procedures for minimizing resident property damage and serve as the initial contact for damage claims.
  • Interface with residents' families, friends, or social services providers.
  • Serve as an HOU representative to local, state, federal, housing agencies, and community groups.
  • Participate in weekly supervision and scheduled site meetings.
  • Ensure relocation files contain required documentation and the data-tracking system is updated.
  • Complete all tasks identified in the site work plan and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in relocation services, social services, customer service, or similar fields preferred.
  • Ability to provide verbal interpretation and written translations if needed.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work under strict time constraints.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs, work in adverse weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk up to 4 miles per day and ascend up to four flights of stairs at a time.
  • Ability to work some evenings and Saturdays.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently.
  • Propensity to learn and take on more tasks or responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite, as well as database applications.
  • Creative problem-solver.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background screen.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver's license.
