About the Role
As a Capability Lead – Lakehouse Modernisation, you will own the Lakehouse Modernisation capability, focusing on enabling clients to build modern analytical platforms and migrate from legacy data warehouses. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical leadership and strategic capability growth to cultivate expertise in contemporary lakehouse architectures while delivering outstanding results that reshape how organisations store, process, and analyze data at scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical execution of lakehouse implementations using Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Help define the technical vision of the capability
- Develop reusable frameworks, accelerators, and migration tools
- Build proof-of-concepts and technical demonstrators for lakehouse scenarios
- Participate in presales activities, provide mentorship to delivery teams, and uphold consistent quality across all projects
- Lead a team of approx 15 in Sydney.
Requirements
- Minimum 8+ years in data engineering and architecture roles with analytics focus
- Proven track record delivering complex data warehouse modernisation and lakehouse programs
- Deep hands-on experience with modern lakehouse platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Databricks on Azure, Azure Synapse Analytics)
- Experience migrating legacy data warehouses (Teradata, Netezza, Oracle, SQL Server DW)
- Demonstrated success in solution architecture and technical leadership roles
- Team leadership experience
- Experience with data modeling patterns (dimensional, Data Vault, wide tables)
- Presales experience including solutioning, demos, and SOW development
- Track record of building reusable assets and accelerators
