About the Role
The Set-up Technician prepares processes for injection molding machines and sets up other equipment for assembly. This role requires a thorough knowledge of the plastic molding process to maintain or adjust equipment and ensure production specifications. The technician will oversee production activities and staff in the absence of the Shift Supervisor, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and collaborating with material handlers, quality assurance, and operators.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose small engine problems

- Collect and dispose of trash
- Explain diagnosis and repair of the machine to customer satisfaction

- Assist with operator breaks
- Operate machine when needed and available
- Clean hoppers, loaders, and filters
- Place purging in purge buckets daily
- Vacuum machine beds daily
- Clean up oil spills or leaks
- Assist with preventative maintenance on tools
- Train operators and ensure they are comfortable in their duties
- Thoroughly wipe down and clean machines weekly
- Organize molding supply cabinets
- Backup supervisors during absences
- Utilize six-sigma quality tools to define, measure, analyze, improve and control processes and outcomes
- Maintain and support processes, procedures & K.P.I.’s owned by the position
- Review all procedures related to the job per “HR LG 01 Training Matrix”
- Complete all training required by Job Description in “HR LG 01 Training Matrix” within the stated time
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance

Requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong mechanical skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Thorough knowledge of plastic and/or molding processes
- Knowledge of mold construction and components
- Knowledge of properties of common injection moldable resins
- Exposure to manufacturing areas requiring personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, etc.)
- Ability to work in ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment
- Ability to sit or stand as needed
- Ability to walk primarily on a level surface for periodic periods
- Ability to reach above shoulder height, below the waist, or lift as required
- Proper lifting techniques required
- Ability and comfortability to work in small confined spaces while following proper safety protocol
- Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
- Knowledgeable of standard safety policies and procedures
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures
- Support the goals and objectives of the organization
- Comply with company hazardous waste disposal procedures
