About the Role

S:US is seeking a Director of Social Services for their men's shelter in Brooklyn, located at Blake Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11208.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Shelter staff to identify unmet needs among shelter residents and develop plans to engage residents in supplementary services.
  • Develop and identify a schedule of groups of various content conducted within and outside of the facility.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and refer clients for psychiatric assessment if necessary.
  • Maintain updated information about mental health, substance abuse treatment, and other social services in the community.
  • Serve as a resource to Case Managers and their clients.
  • Work with clients and case managers in developing treatment plans and identifying community-based referrals for clients to continue treatment after leaving the shelter.
  • Maintain data about service utilization.
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to staff.
  • Attend, participate in, and facilitate regular staff trainings and meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding all clients' information.
  • Complete incident reports in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Report any abuse/neglect in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the clients on a daily basis.
  • Work cooperatively with the entire team to carry out program goals and objectives for each client.
  • Understand and implement the agency’s philosophy, policies, and mission.
  • Comply with all SUS Employee and Corporate Compliance Policies, Procedures, and Protocols.
  • Comply with NYS Dept. of Social Services Rules, Regulations, and Statutes.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree required.
  • 2+ years of Managerial/Supervisory experience.
  • Flexibility including evening and weekend hours required.

Skills

  • LMSW/LCSW or LMHC preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
