About the Role

Otis is seeking a Director of Legal for the Australasia region to provide strategic legal counsel, manage commercial negotiations, and oversee corporate governance. This leadership role involves partnering with the regional executive team to drive business objectives while ensuring compliance and risk management across Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial advice and lead contractual negotiations across all states and functions.
• Support sales teams in negotiating bids to maximize value and mitigate risks.
• Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and external partners.
• Provide legal counsel to regional leadership on employment, litigation, and M&A matters.
• Perform Company Secretary duties, including board meeting administration and statutory filings.
• Manage external counsel budgets and global insurance broker relationships.
• Administer legal risk management, ethics, and compliance programs.
• Serve as the Data Privacy Associate for the region.
• Develop and deliver legal training to operational teams.
• Ensure compliance with local and company EH&S and ethics policies.
• Participate as a trustee for the Australian superannuation fund.
• Lead, coach, and manage direct reports and the contract management team.

Requirements

• Australian-qualified lawyer with 10 years of post-qualification experience.
• Admitted to practice as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW or other Australian states.
• Solid background in construction and commercial law.
• Understanding of employment law and related issues.
• Proven leadership and executive influencing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High-level organizational and prioritization skills.
