About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and organized Household Manager & Family Assistant to support a busy family of 4 with two young children. This role involves childcare, housekeeping, meal preparation, and general household management to ensure the home runs smoothly and feels calm and organized. The ideal candidate will be a reliable, long-term partner who can anticipate needs and maintain household systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide school and activities pick-up and drop-off.
- Supervise children at home, during activities, or at playdates.
- Prepare diaper bags, backpacks, clothing, snacks, and activity bags.
- Run kid-related errands.
- Provide date night and overnight child care as needed.
- Create and maintain household organization systems.
- Perform daily bedroom resets.
- Prepare home for bi-weekly cleaners.
- Perform light tidying of bedrooms, bathrooms, dishes, and surfaces.
- Vacuum high-traffic areas.
- Manage seasonal clothing, decor, and bedding swaps.
- Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
- Assist with event, holiday, and guest preparations.
- Prepare 2-4 dinners per week for the family, or prep ingredients.
- Prepare school lunches and healthy after-school snacks daily.
- Grocery shop as needed to support meal planning.
- Follow dietary needs/preferences and food allergies (salmon).
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including trash removal.
- Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
- Manage household shopping lists.
- Run errands such as dry cleaning and travel items.
- Wash, fold, and put away all family laundry according to organizational systems.
- Maintain bedroom and bathroom linens and make beds daily.
- Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked.
- Perform occasional deep cleans of the fridge, oven, laundry machines, and baseboards.
- Refresh daily drop zone areas.
- Complete organizational projects for closets, dressers, shoe racks, playrooms, and common area cabinets.
- Clean dog bowls daily and ensure consistent food and water maintenance.
- Take the dog out for brief outings as needed.
- Maintain dog food inventory.
- Be present to let in cleaners, contractors, or landscapers.
- Maintain awareness of who is coming and going from the property.
- Maintain outdoor spaces, including grill cleaning and propane tank maintenance.
- Perform seasonal property maintenance.
- Maintain family calendar awareness using Skylight Calendar.
- Take the car for occasional car washes.
Requirements
- Maintain a smoke-free environment.
- Possess reliable personal transportation and a clean driving record.
- Be comfortable driving children in the family SUV in all weather conditions.
- Be up to date on all vaccinations, including COVID and flu.
- Be CPR and First Aid certified.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Reliability and punctuality are non-negotiable.
- Must pass a background check.
