About the Role
Generator Technicians service and repair commercial generators on cell phone towers. This role is ideal for independent, self-starters willing to travel and grow in a fast-paced, challenging job within the Telecom industry.
Responsibilities
- Maintain generators, diagnose and repair problems, install and replace components or entire systems, and perform additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
- Conduct performance checks and regular maintenance on generators to ensure proper readiness.
- Read and follow blueprints or other design specifications to install or repair.
- Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring and controls, and other components, and test for proper operation.
- Respond promptly to Power/Generator alarms and be on call 24/7 if necessary.
- Perform work with awareness of all potential hazards, use safety equipment, and utilize safety practices.
- Attend and participate in all designated safety and training meetings.
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience with generator maintenance is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes.
- Thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair.
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components.
- Moderate computer skills.
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations.
- Ability to comply with OSHA Standards.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods.
- Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment/alarms effectively, both visually and audibly.
- Willingness to drive long distances, work day, evening, or night hours, and be available for overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be gone from home for extended periods.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
