About the Role

Meta is seeking a Public Affairs Manager to drive media engagement, amplifying Meta's commitments to small businesses and communities nationwide. This role focuses on executing communications strategies that connect Meta's impact to local communities, working with cross-functional partners to drive earned media and public awareness at the state and local level. The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator experienced with state house reporters, local broadcast, and major local digital/print outlets.

Responsibilities

  • Execute state and local media strategies to amplify Meta's SMB and community-focused announcements across key markets nationwide.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state and local journalists, editors, and media outlets to drive sustained, positive coverage of Meta's community investments.
  • Create communications plans, messaging, and related materials tailored to local audiences.
  • Identify and develop compelling local stories and case studies that demonstrate Meta's impact on small businesses and communities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities to amplify announcements at the state and local level.
  • Support rapid response efforts and manage reactive media inquiries related to SMB and community issues at the local level.
  • Track, measure, and report on the effectiveness of state and local media campaigns.
  • Monitor state and local media landscapes and political environments to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Help plan and execute local events, roundtables, and small business engagements that generate media coverage and community goodwill.
  • Partner with external agencies and consultants as needed to extend reach in priority markets.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in public affairs, communications, media relations, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and executing state and local media strategies across multiple markets.
  • Experience building relationships with journalists and generating earned media coverage at the state and local level.
  • Experience creating communications materials including press releases, media pitches, talking points, and op-eds.
  • Experience prioritizing competing projects based on impact, deadlines, and stakeholder needs.
  • Willingness to travel domestically to support local media engagements and events.
