About the Role

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for ongoing change and development for workflow solutions and provide technology oversight to different business units. You will help shape the future of our digital platform by designing, developing, and deploying innovative technology solutions. You will lead engineers, implement complex workflow solutions in a cloud-based environment, and ensure appropriate cyber security controls are implemented. You will also mentor engineers in the team and foster an environment of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the architecture, design, build, and governance roadmap across the group for various workflow technologies.
  • Provide technology oversight to different business units.
  • Design and implement solutions for business-driven initiatives and technology uplift.
  • Run workshops and sprint ceremonies in a hybrid agile development environment.
  • Design and deliver innovative technical solutions to strategic business problems.
  • Build and deploy multiple technology solutions.
  • Define current and future states, as well as the roadmap.
  • Translate project vision into actionable plans and iterative delivery.
  • Constructively challenge the status quo while influencing stakeholders at various levels.
  • Influence the future of the Group's technology and direction.
  • Apply thought leadership in software and API architecture and set the direction for future software development and API strategies using AWS Gateways.
  • Safeguard against emerging security threats.
  • Establish new ways of working and promote DevOps culture of CI/CD pipelines and Automation.
  • Manage any workflow based technical environments (preferably Pega, Appian).
  • Design, document, and present formal solution designs.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines using Git.
  • Innovate management practices that facilitate seamless collaboration and efficiency across thousands of engineers.
  • Orchestrate complex workflows through automation scripts, managing the deployment lifecycle of interconnected infrastructure components.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with the architecture, design, and development of Platforms.
  • Strong development experience using programming languages such as Java.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microservices – Cloud Native integrations patterns, design and implementation, compliant network flows, security zoning etc.
  • Experience with various hosting patterns like PaaS, SaaS, AWS, Azure – EKS, Kubernetes etc.
  • Cloud domain knowledge in AWS.
  • Proficient at Data Architecture and working with larger volumes of data - ingestion, transformation, and consumption patterns – RDBMS, SQL, Postgres etc.
  • Understanding of AI model lifecycle, including training, deployment, and monitoring and exposure to AI frameworks or cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure AI, AWS SageMaker).
  • Experience in telemetry and setting up monitoring and alerting on industry standard tooling - Observe, Obstack, Pagerduty.
  • Agile & Scrum Knowledge preferred.
  • Good understanding of a Workflow stack - Pega/Appian is desirable.
