About the Role
Nurse practitioners are independent practitioners who diagnose, treat, and prescribe for a patient's condition within their specialty area of practice, as defined by New York Education Law.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose patient conditions within specialty area
- Treat patient conditions within specialty area
- Prescribe medication and treatments within specialty area
Requirements
- New York State License with current registration as a registered nurse
- Certified by the New York State Department of Education as a Nurse Practitioner
- Graduate of a New York State registered Nurse Practitioner Program or equivalent
- National association certification as a Nurse Practitioner via examination
- Completion of pharmacy component and 3-hour course on New York State and Federal laws relating to prescriptions and recordkeeping
- Collaborative Practice Agreement with a physician if less than 3600 hours of experience
- Credentialed through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with approved Delineation of Privileges
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing
- At least two years of nursing experience in area of specialty practice
