About the Role

Nurse practitioners are independent practitioners who diagnose, treat, and prescribe for a patient's condition within their specialty area of practice, as defined by New York Education Law.

Responsibilities

  • Prescribe medication and treatments within specialty area

Requirements

  • New York State License with current registration as a registered nurse
  • Certified by the New York State Department of Education as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Graduate of a New York State registered Nurse Practitioner Program or equivalent
  • National association certification as a Nurse Practitioner via examination
  • Completion of pharmacy component and 3-hour course on New York State and Federal laws relating to prescriptions and recordkeeping
  • Collaborative Practice Agreement with a physician if less than 3600 hours of experience
  • Credentialed through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with approved Delineation of Privileges
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing
  • At least two years of nursing experience in area of specialty practice
