About the Role

Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on public benefit entitlements and lead the admissions process. This role is the front line for prospective individuals, families, hospitals, care managers, and referral sources, ensuring seamless admissions and access to necessary benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Admissions Manager to lead the admissions process from initial inquiry through successful placement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective individuals, families, care managers, hospitals, and referral agencies.
  • Act as the organization's subject matter expert on Medicaid and public benefit entitlement programs, providing guidance to internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate admissions, ensuring all clinical, financial, and regulatory requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Determine benefit eligibility and assist with Medicaid, SSI, SSDI, Medicare, SNAP, and other entitlement applications, renewals, and recertifications.
  • Monitor benefit status and proactively resolve issues to prevent interruptions in funding or services.
  • Educate individuals and families regarding available benefits, financial responsibilities, and the admissions process.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Nursing, Clinical, Residential, and Program Operations to ensure smooth transitions into services.
  • Develop strong working relationships with OPWDD, care coordination organizations, hospitals, and community referral partners.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records while ensuring compliance with OPWDD, Medicaid, HIPAA, and agency requirements.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience in admissions, Medicaid eligibility, benefits entitlement, healthcare registration, case management, or social services.
  • Strong working knowledge of Medicaid eligibility, SSI, SSDI, Medicare, and other public assistance programs.
  • Experience within OPWDD, developmental disabilities, behavioral health, long-term care, healthcare, or nonprofit human services is strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
