About the Role

The Dietary Aide assembles and delivers patient meals, conducts proper washing and sanitizing of dishes using a dish machine, and collects and delivers nutrition supplies to hospital units. Aides may also work in retail food outlets, preparing and serving food to employees, guests, and visitors, which requires payment processing and cash handling. All employees may assist with catering functions as needed. The role requires working collaboratively to provide exceptional food and service while meeting all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble patient meals using proper portion control and allergen awareness.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes and utensils using a dish machine.
  • Ensure patient/family satisfaction through excellent customer service and quality meal production.
  • Manage nutritional supplies on hospital units.
  • Maintain a clean facility throughout service.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures of clinical care in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate team-based management.
  • Assume other appropriate responsibilities as needed.
  • Prepare and serve food in retail food outlets.
  • Process payments and handle cash in retail locations.
  • Assist with catering functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, or appropriate working papers for minors.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, push, pull, and reach.
  • May be exposed to areas of extreme heat or cold.
  • May work in environments with loud noises, wet and slippery conditions, and exposure to sharp objects.
  • A licensed ability to drive may be necessary.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Must successfully complete lawful pre-employment/post-offer checks, including background check, drug screen, employment references, and licensing review.
