About the Role
Kaizen is seeking a phenomenal digital designer to build stunning landing pages, craft motion and illustration work, and establish a visual identity that reflects the company's future direction. This role involves setting the external perception of Kaizen and shipping that work firsthand, not just executing existing visions.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship landing pages, campaign sites, and entry points for agency platforms that convert both agency stakeholders and mission-driven talent.
- Build the constituent-facing visual system (typographic voice, motion language, illustration style) to ensure a consistent Kaizen signature across all agency applications.
- Develop Kaizen's own web presence, including the marketing site, launch moments, flyers, and campaign work.
- Ship your own work in code, collaborating directly with engineers.
- Utilize AI-native creative tools to achieve high volume and quality output.
- Partner directly with Sales and BD on federal pitch materials, demo environments, and proposal assets.
- Work closely with the Design Lead, CEO, and engineering teams to ensure product and brand cohesion, sharing work early and often.
Requirements
- A portfolio showcasing web design, motion, and illustration with demonstrable range, beauty, and functionality.
- A proven record of shipping projects independently from start to finish, utilizing tools like Claude Code.
- Strong command of web-native design principles, including layouts, typography, and interactions in a browser.
- Fluency with motion and animation tools (e.g., After Effects, Rive, Lottie, Jitter) used for clarity.
- Fluency with AI creative tools (e.g., Midjourney, Runway, Firefly) used as genuine creative leverage.
- Experience building or significantly evolving a brand system from first principles.
- Ability to translate a set of values and a roadmap into surprising and effective design outcomes.
- Belief in the mission to scale design across all government agencies.
- Willingness to build brand guidelines and iterate within a system that is still under development.
- Comfort with AI tools as a multiplier of craft, not a threat.
- Focus on design that performs, not just visual polish in isolation.
- Willingness to build and ship work directly, rather than handing off to others.
