About the Role

The Financial Analyst II performs highly complex financial analysis and regulatory work for the Provider Finance Department. This role involves compiling, analyzing, and evaluating financial data, preparing reports, and recommending actions to resolve financial and regulatory issues with a high degree of independence.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex financial analysis on HHSC program data related to reimbursement rates and supplemental payment programs.
• Draft and determine methodologies for data acquisition and large-scale projects.
• Identify algorithms for data matching and automate processes using complex programming and analytics.
• Develop standard and ad-hoc financial reports and provide analysis for special projects.
• Provide consultation and technical advice on research methods to department staff.
• Develop and implement internal financial policies and procedures.
• Conduct complex analyses related to fee-for-service and managed care financial programs.
• Review and evaluate the impact of legislation, regulations, and policies on reimbursement rates.
• Prepare and present reports on analysis results to executive staff, stakeholders, and professional organizations.
• Represent programs in committees, regional workgroups, and at the national level.
• Provide input for the development and integration of new financial programs and provider reimbursement calculations.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social science, business (including accounting and statistics), mathematics, economics, health-related field, political science, or a closely related field.
• Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to pass background and due diligence checks.
