About the Role
Assist Ambulance is seeking passionate individuals to join as Motor Vehicle Operators (MVOs) in the Bronx. This role involves working alongside EMTs to provide Basic Life Support emergency medical services, requiring patient interaction, lifting, carrying, and safe ambulance operation throughout the five boroughs. Assist Ambulance provides comprehensive training, including CPR certification assistance.
Responsibilities
- Operate an ambulance safely throughout the five boroughs.
- Interact with patients and staff members.
- Lift and carry patients.
- Provide Basic Life Support services alongside Emergency Medical Technicians.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have 2 years of driving experience in New York City.
- Must possess a valid New York State D Class driver’s license.
- Must have no more than 6 points on your driving abstract.
- DJ licenses and out-of-state licenses are not accepted.
- Must be willing to complete CPR certification by date of hire.
- Must be physically fit to lift 125 lbs.
- Must pass a lifting assessment.
- Must be able to obtain 19A physical clearance.
- Must pass a negative PPD test.
- Must pass two driving assessments.
- Must pass a 10-panel drug screening.
- Must commit to at least two 8-hour shifts per week (steady shifts).
- Must be good with people.
- Must be able to act responsibly under extreme duress.
- Criminal history will be considered in accordance with the New York City Fair Chance Act.
