About the Role
A well-funded fintech startup in San Francisco is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to own critical money movement infrastructure. You will manage ledgered internal state, transaction lifecycles, and complex integrations with banking and card networks, ensuring system correctness and reliability as the platform scales from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of accounts.
Responsibilities
- Own money movement, ledgered internal state, and transaction lifecycle management
- Implement idempotency, retries, and deterministic replay mechanisms
- Manage continuous reconciliation across independent ledgers, card networks, and banking events
- Build guardrails to prevent double spends, duplicate webhooks, and inconsistent balances
- Own integrations with card issuing, banking, disbursement, and credit partners
- Maintain compliance and reporting infrastructure for banking partners and regulators
- Scale systems to handle high-volume, spiky demand while maintaining strict data integrity
Requirements
- Proven experience building critical systems where data integrity is paramount
- Demonstrated history of owning a system end-to-end, including design, shipping, and maintenance
- Ability to work in-person at the San Francisco office
- Experience with payments, card issuing, banking rails, or ledgered systems
- Deep understanding of high-throughput distributed systems where consistency is prioritized
- Experience with reconciliation and resolving complex data discrepancies
