About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team at the Recovery Center of Niagara in Newfane, NY. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual resident needs
- Ensure all food is prepared safely, following proper hygiene and sanitation standards
- Plan menus in collaboration with healthcare professionals to meet nutritional requirements
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Adhere to all safety protocols and food handling regulations
- Record and document meal preparation and service activities
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prior cooking experience in a school, cafeteria, or commercial kitchen preferred
- Ability to follow recipes, food safety procedures, and production schedules
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, loud, and sometimes stressful school cafeteria environment
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Excellent time management and teamwork skills
- Must pass all required background checks per NYS and school district guidelines
Skills
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in healthcare or institutional settings
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions and nutritional guidelines
- Ability to follow recipes and food safety standards meticulously
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
